» Squidoo Tip #38: Get the Most From Your Introduction Module

Not so long ago, Squidoo HQ updated the lens design, and one of the biggest changes was adding elements to the introduction module. Below the introduction, you’ll see an “explore related pages” section highlighted in blue. You also have the option of turning on a table of contents, useful if you have several modules in [...]

Added entry for “taut vs. tout” to Commonly Misused Words, added link to my newest ducky lens from Oh Rubber Ducky, added DVD collections to Harry Potter vs. Lord of the Rings, added links to the Sherlock Holmes lens, added a silly video to the Rubber Ducky Video Showcase.

» Squidoo Tip #37: Protecting Your Guestbooks From Spam

Two of my lenses were recently targeted by a spammer. It caught my attention since they left the same exact comment on both lenses. They also included a link to one of their unrelated lenses. So, I deleted them.
But the spammer came back and again left the same comments on the same lenses. I deleted [...]

Let’s see… added tidbit about disposing of dead roaches to I Hate Roaches, a bit about playing Sonic games for free to Sonic 2, created a lens for Rubber Ducky Fashion. There were a few other tidbits, but overall it wasn’t a very productive Squidoo day for me.
Ten lenses in Tier 1, still have rubber [...]

» Squidoo Tip #36: Strive for Excellence, Not Perfection

I can easily spend hours just trying to make a lens look good. Sometimes it takes days or weeks before I’m pretty happy with a lens.
None of my lenses are perfect, though. There is always something new I could add, always some way to tweak it. Sometimes I could even improve a lens by removing [...]

» Squidoo Tip #35 - Use Dashes in the URL

For the purpose of wooing Google, it’s usually better to separate words in your Squidoo URL with dashes. Like this: squidoo.com/how-to-grow-peas
Why is “how-to-grow-peas” better than “howtogrowpeas,” or even “how_to_grow_peas?” Because search engines (or at least Google) pay attention to the URL. If your lens’ address contains distinct words or a phrase that people do searches [...]

Rotten spammers. I had the displeasure of deleting several guestbook comments earlier today and late last night, most of them from the same person. Looks like this same person hit some other lenses in the Top 100 list.
Lenses Updated:
Oh Rubber Ducky! I replaced a rubber ducky wrist watch with rubber ducky boxers. Why? I dunno, [...]

» Squidoo Tip #34: Don’t Get Hung Up on Star Ratings

Some lensmasters get hopping mad because someone comes along and gives their lens a one star rating. Others get annoyed because hardly anyone rates their lens.
While I can absolutely sympathize with someone who is outraged because some jerk dinged their lens with an undeserved one star rating, the stars are just a small part of [...]

Today I got a nice surprised when one of my lenses, Conversational vs. Formal Writing, was featured on the Giant Squid Community Showcase. This is a lens that got “dinged” once, too!
Here are some of the Squid-like things I did today:

Added some obnoxious flashing, quacking ducks to the rubber ducky shop
Added a breast cancer [...]
